Cruising with STYC

We welcome All to our club cruising program. Regardless of boat length, mast height, anchor road, keel depth, crew position or able body. This includes non-members/guests, and even those “non-sailors” types. We believe, and wholeheartedly Encourage, every sailing opportunity as a continual learning encounter. For everyone. Just think of the absurdly, amusingly and eccentrically social encounters you too could experience from a bunch of US sailors in prime action mode.

We are always, repeat ALWAYS looking for volunteers!!! Typically, it is easy simple tasks once at the cruise location such as set-up and take down.  Please feel free to reach out to our cruise director Kristina at Cruise@styc.org for more information. New idea’s & hot tips are also always welcome!

    BRIDGE BLAST !!

    From the Port Orchard Marina

    June 28-29

We will once again be back at Port Orchard marina to watch the pre-4th Bremerton Bridge Blast fireworks display. This is a huge peninsular event that was born of sheer gumption in 2017. There are over 90 venders, Live Music, and food trucks on the Bremerton side during the day. Port Orchard has a foot-ferry back & forth. Plan on an early arrival to partake in all the festivities. Or just simply Chill on the Dock in the Port Orchard Marina. The view of the large fireworks performance is unobstructed from Port Orchard. Or take yourself for a dinghy ride for a closer experience. Each side of Sinclair Inlet will have parades, markets & festivities abound.

We have only 12 slips for STYC. The marina is completely booked out for this huge event. That said, if registration is full please continue to sign-up on the Waitlist. Boats DO indeed move up onto the Go list.

We will be sharing the end of the Port Orchard dock with 2 other yacht clubs. Consider provisioning accordingly.

This is a Fly Your Burgee event!!

We have already made the reservations. Simply pay the Port Orchard Marina directly upon Arrival. Then sit back & enjoy the 10:15 pm show in your own camp chair from the dock.

    See you there!

STYC's First San Juan Island Cruise!!!

    July 3rd - 6th, 2025

    *Mandatory*  Skippers Meeting - June 26th 7pm,

    with & by the Commodore's

    Greetings!

Please join us for Sloop Tavern Yacht Club's first time ever 4-day cruise to the San Juan Islands for the 4th of July. We will be heading up to Roche Harbor for their weekend full of events & their Fabulous Fireworks Display. Plan on dropping multiple anchors for a raft-up both July 3rd & 4th. We will then continue onto Deer Harbor Marina for July 5th. If you choose to carry on elsewhere on your own please feel free to do so. All boats should approach this cruise as Self-Reliant. Just let us know if you will be joining us after the 4th.

We are posting this exploratory Island Cruise 3 weeks earlier than we normally do in order to have a solid boat list by June 4th, and to simply give everyone time to arrange taking Thursday July 3rd off. If you cannot....we have reserved a handful of slips in Port Ludlow for the night of July 3rd. This would strategically put slower boats or those stuck in Seattle until 6 pm 7/3 ample time to tuck into Port Ludlow (on the 1st leg North-bound) by Twilight. Then carry on across the straits the following day, July 4th, to meet those already on anchor in Roche Harbor.

Again Please be aware that we NEED to have a total boat list *No Later* than JUNE 4th !

Because we will be accommodating for different skill levels, variable straits conditions, & differing to no-familiarity of the San Juan Islands, there will be a *Mandatory* Skippers Meeting held by the STYC Commodores on Thursday June 26th at 7 pm at a location yet to be determined (with a zoom option available). This will be a mandatory meeting for ALL planning to go North. And because boats move quickly from the waitlist to the "go" list, those on the waitlist are requested to be present at the June 26th meeting as well. And if reg is full, we still urge you to go on the Waitlist. We will give out Much more detailed information then. Much of this cruise is being strategized as we post this announcement...

So.... To the Islands We Sail!!! We are Super excited to take this yacht club up to the Northern Salish Sea. Absolutely hoping You will join us for our very 1st San Juan Island Cruise!!

See you on the 26th of June!

    Cheers!

    Fun cruising time! Exciting Prizes!

Travel to new and exciting locations including some of our reciprocal moorage partner yacht clubs, challenge yourself and enjoy more time on the water. When you register you will receive a Bingo card, then travel to 4 destinations and at least one Sloop Tavern Yacht Club Cruise.

The center square is a wild card - buddy boat with at least one other STYC boat to a destination that is not on any participating buddy boat's bingo card! Alternately, this wildcard can be an STYC cruise that is not on your bingo card.

Take a photo of yourself and/or your crew and/or your boat(s) at the location and email it to reciprocal@styc.org

If you use social media, please post and tag with #STYC

If you complete bingo on your card, you can continue to complete additional bingos on the same card or request another card for additional bragging rights, superlatives and prizes.

Open to all voting Sloop Tavern Yacht Club members, as travel to STYC Reciprocals will be required, but you can complete bingo on someone else's boat.

    • All STYC Cruise Registrants and their guests are expected to adhere to STYC Community Guidelines during the event, and follow proper reciprocal etiquette
    • Many reciprocals require you to fly your club burgee, some require you to present your member card.
    • Not all bingo locations are suitable for all boats - you are always responsible for safe operation of your vessel
    • Cruising Bingo is free to participate, but does not include moorage costs, and reciprocal requirements vary.
    • Some cruises may have additional costs that are optional based on the activity.

Awards will be presented at the Holiday Party after our final cruise of the year, the Kingston Dark & Stormy
