Cruising with STYC

We welcome All to our club cruising program. Regardless of boat length, mast height, anchor road, keel depth, crew position or able body. This includes non-members/guests, and even those “non-sailors” types. We believe, and wholeheartedly Encourage, every sailing opportunity as a continual learning encounter. For everyone. Just think of the absurdly, amusingly and eccentrically social encounters you too could experience from a bunch of US sailors in prime action mode.

We are always, repeat ALWAYS looking for volunteers!!! Typically, it is easy simple tasks once at the cruise location such as set-up and take down.  Please feel free to reach out to our cruise director Kristina at Cruise@styc.org for more information. New idea’s & hot tips are also always welcome!

    Fun cruising time! Exciting Prizes!

Travel to new and enticing locations including some of our reciprocal moorage partner yacht clubs, challenge yourself and enjoy more time on the water. When you register you will receive a Bingo card, then travel to 4 destinations and at least one Sloop Tavern Yacht Club Cruise or social event.

The center square is a wild card - buddy boat with at least one other STYC boat to a destination that is not on any participating buddy boat's bingo card! Alternately, this wildcard can be an STYC cruise that is not on your bingo card.

Take a photo of yourself and/or your crew and/or your boat(s) at the location and email it to reciprocal@styc.org. If you're really shy a photo or screenshot of your chartplotter is also okay.

If you use social media, please post and tag with #STYC

If you complete bingo on your card, you can continue to complete additional bingos on the same card or request another card for additional bragging rights, superlatives and prizes.

Open to all voting Sloop Tavern Yacht Club members, as travel to STYC Reciprocals will be required, but you can complete bingo on someone else's boat.

    • All STYC Cruise Registrants and their guests are expected to adhere to STYC Community Guidelines during the event, and follow proper reciprocal etiquette
    • Many reciprocals require you to fly your club burgee, some require you to present your member card.
    • Not all bingo locations are suitable for all boats - you are always responsible for safe operation of your vessel
    • Cruising Bingo is free to participate, but does not include moorage costs, and reciprocal requirements vary.
    • Some cruises may have additional costs that are optional based on the activity.
    • Update! No need to actually use reciprocal moorage at the locations - we're just highlighting our Reciprocal program. Just be sure and and get to the location and get some evidence.
    • Travel by boat is expected except to Sloop Events like the Volunteer Appreciation party.

Awards will be presented at the Holiday Party after our final cruise of the year, the Kingston Dark & Stormy

    BLAKE ISLAND DARK & STORMY

    Save the date !!!

    Jan 24-25, 2026

Time for our Annual long awaited BLAKE ISLAND overnight cruise!!! It's common knowledge once something has attained sheer awesomeness there is little reason to improve further. This overnight cruise just keeps on getting better & better with age & new membership. Gather your wits, your crew, your best dinner potluck item, your foulies, and your acquired PNW salty fortitude & head over to Blake Island for our STYC annual hoedown gathering where the Rum will be provided to the flock. And the fire will keep us all warm & toasty.

There will be a Waitlist for this cruise. Please sign-up. Boats ALWAYS drop out & spots open up prior the event.

As a reminder, this is a National Park. Annual permits can be purchased at the ranger station upon arrival check-in for $5/ft, or $.70/ft overnight only. Includes electric power. Dock space is on a first come first serve basis & open equally for the general public. That said, this is January in the central Puget Sound with little boating traffic. Who else but us STYC salts would be out there!

Likewise for consideration; the wild herd of bold banshee raccoons that anxiously await all human visitations with opportunities for brazen exploration of the interior (yes interior) of your boat...& the treasure trove of food it bares. Be forewarned.

** The following items are requested: Help with set-up, Dinner potluck items (w/ a serving utensil), Wood, Lanterns of any type, 2 propane heaters, your own ice, mixers, and *your additional favorite beverages. Bring a plate & eating utensils from your own boat. Music/Musical instruments highly encouraged. Garbage bags! And help w/ clean-up.

Please reserve on our STYC webpage for an accurate head count:

Important: Please check back for Updates... there WILL indeed be updates.

Be there! Or you will wish like hell you had been...

    Cheer's,

    Kristina Southard, STYC Cruise Director
