Party on the Rocks @ Blakely Rock
Greetings Sloopers!
Time for another overnight Cruise! This one’s soo close to home ya could prolly throw a rock at it & not miss. The June 18th tide will be low enough to enjoy an afternoon on exposed Blakely Rock just outside Blakely Harbor. This will be an anchoring/raft-up event requiring 2 anchors. One for dropping your main hook in Blakely Harbor for the night. The other to secure your dinghy on the exposed beach of Blakely Rock itself (see pic above). For those of you that have raced around the rock using it as a mark this is a coolio little item to check-off on your Salish Sea been-thar-done-that experiences.
The usual (and perhaps not so usual) will apply… Potluck items a must, BYOB tropical drinks of your choice, PFD’s, musical instruments, neon ski suites, disco balls, garden gnomes, salmon colored shorts, geocaching, those of the pirate/steampunk/wookie persuasion, dead celebrities & tiki torches are all welcome. Remember, summer is coming. That said, we highly encourage a defined level of decorum so that the United States Coast Guard remains uninvolved. The Bonus…views of downtown Seattle are simply stunning. During the day, and at night.
Tides for Port Blakely starting with June 18, 2022.

"The best time to visit Blakely Rock: spring or early summer when the lowest low tides usually happen in the morning or early afternoon. After several trips to Blakely Rock, we learned that the most interesting sea life becomes visible at a low tide of at least minus 2 feet; the lower the better.” - Elsie Hulsizer, 48 North, 4/22/21
Please register on our STYC website for a boat & head-count.
