BLAKELY ROCK BENEFIT RACE |
Please note a change in approach to class breaks & eligibility below, effective and reflected in the current NOR (linked below): Eligibility: See the STYC GNOR/SI for details on each division. The Slooper division is not eligible for Overall Awards or the Roland Littlefield Church Performance Trophy. Join us for the Carol Pearl Blakely Rock Benefit Race. This race is one of the biggest races in the Puget Sound, with up to 150 boats participating. THIS RACE IS DEDICATED TO CAROL PEARL This year, our beneficiary is Sound Experience who shares our mission in getting people on the water. Now in its 36th year, Sound Experience is a Washington State-based nonprofit dedicated to youth education through transformative sailing programs aboard the iconic Pacific Northwest schooner, Adventuress. More than 50,000 children and teens have stepped aboard for powerful day and overnight experiential programs throughout the Salish Sea. Onboard, they explore our region’s unique marine ecology, develop maritime skills, and learn the values of teamwork and community. In recent years, Sound Experience has deepened its commitment to equity by partnering with community-based organizations such as the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle and Connect Casino Road to reach underserved youth—many of whom would otherwise have little access to boats, outdoor recreation, or the life-changing experience of sailing on the Salish Sea. Now fully restored, Adventuress, a 1913 National Historic Landmark, is dedicated in perpetuity to enriching the lives of young people across our region. Aboard Adventuress, we are all shipmates.
