Cruising with STYC

We welcome All to our club cruising program. Regardless of boat length, mast height, anchor road, keel depth, crew position or able body. This includes non-members/guests, and even those “non-sailors” types. We believe, and wholeheartedly Encourage, every sailing opportunity as a continual learning encounter. For everyone. Just think of the absurdly, amusingly and eccentrically social encounters you too could experience from a bunch of US sailors in prime action mode.

We are always, repeat ALWAYS looking for volunteers!!! Typically, it is easy simple tasks once at the cruise location such as set-up and take down.  Please feel free to reach out to our cruise director Kristina at Cruise@styc.org for more information. New idea’s & hot tips are also always welcome!

    Langley Dock Plan:

    Revised UPDATE!   Please read below....

Langley Marina is linear docking. The docking scheme above has been planned by the Harbormaster. We have 300+ ft available to STYC. Most vessels will be tied to the dock. However, when linear space is full on D & E docks, Please be prepared to use your fenders & raft to the outside of STYC vessels already tied.

The STYC point persons:  Lisa & Jeff on s/v Blue Jean's

They will be standing by on VHF #72

Langley Harbormasters office 306-221-1120, VHF ch #66A.

    Pay upon arrival

Make sure to take time to "float" with the returning Gray & Humpback whales of Possession Sound, Port Susan & Gedney/Hat Island. Keep an eye on the 3-4 local Whale spotting vessels, have binoculars scanning the water surface, & remember to respect the parameters of 100 yards distance while out there. Currently there has been Very recent whale activity between Gedney/Hat Island & Port Susan.

Remember:  stay 100 yards away from Gray & Humpback Whales. It is Washington State Law

    Langley Humpback Overnight Cruise

    APRIL 27 & 28

Plan to arrive early up into Possession Sound. Grab your binoculars & point your bow directly toward the eastern shores of Hat/Gedney Island (between Everett & Langley) for a relaxing, casual (and respectful) float with 7 of our native returning grey & humpback whales for a magical afternoon.

There will be a potluck & BYOB happy hour on the outter "D" dock picnic tables at 6 pm. Dinner is your own choice. Make sure to check with local restaurants for their reservation policy's if you plan to eat out. They book fast(!). Later in the evening may include a walk-a-bout up to local Spy Hop watering hole, or perhaps a bit of boat socializing.

    Langley Marina: ch #66A.

    STYC: #72.

Please pay the Marina upon arrival.
